Trainee Financial Planner

Heaton Moor, Stockport, UK

Claritas Wealth

Job Description

You are…

Looking to progress to an advisory role at a genuine financial planning firm.

Turned off by the idea of working for a larger firm.

Excited by the idea of being part of a small, friendly team; where you will see every part of the business.

Passionate about financial planning and the good it can do.

Interested in the human side of the job; we deal with the hopes, dreams and fears of real people, not just numbers.

Capable of managing a reasonable workload and managing your time.

You have…

Completed your Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.

Passed at least one ‘AF’ exam and are looking to be Chartered as soon as possible.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and enjoy client contact.

Experience of cashflow forecasting (ideally Voyant).

Experience of dealing with technical matters such as capital gains tax, investment bond encashments, tapered annual allowance etc. Knowledge and experience of trusts is a ‘nice to have’.

A willingness to learn and try new things.

What you’ll be doing

For the next 12 months –

Working in a supporting role but with a decent amount of client contact.

Preparing for planning meetings (updating cashflow forecasts, summarising action required).

Attending planning meetings in the ‘second chair’ to take notes, learn and (increasingly over time) take sections of the meeting.

Producing post-meeting financial planning summaries.

Be taken through a structured training programme to give you the skills and knowledge to be a financial planner.

Writing suitability reports (using our templates).

Ad hoc tasks and research.

Be a part of Claritas Investment Committee (along with our investment consultants, Albion Strategic).

After 12 months or so –

Depending on how you develop, client contact will be increased with a view to you being signed off as a competent adviser as soon as possible.

Once signed off as a competent adviser, you will be allocated clients as a lead adviser and will gradually make the transition to full time advice.

We are…

Cosy and friendly but we do things properly.

All about financial planning.

Providing ongoing advice to around 190 households and growing steadily.

Punching above our weight in many ways, e.g. world class investment proposition in association with Albion Strategic; google them!

Committed to providing the training and support to help all of our staff reach their full potential.

Always looking to do things better.

A bunch of nice people; even if we do say so ourselves.

The package

Competitive salary with clearly mapped out progression.

Annual bonus based on company profitability (so we’re all pulling in the same direction!).

Pension, life assurance, income protection (all the usual stuff).

25 days holiday and, in addition, we close between Christmas and New Year; who wants to be working then?
