Job Description

Our focus is to help clients to identify, refine and achieve their financial objectives, which we strive to achieve using a combination of our knowledge and skills, together with a range of software systems, including cashflow modelling. The majority of our clients receive an ongoing financial planning service, which includes regular reviews to assess how they are progressing in their financial journey.

The role that we are looking to fill will involve sitting in client meetings, preparing review packs, helping clients to understand the key factors that will affect their financial future and could impact on their financial plans.You will also help to support the growth of the business on your own journey to becoming an Adviser. We are looking to add more client support into our team.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Your duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Sitting in and taking minutes of client meetings

  • Preparation of reports following review meetings

  • Financial Planning reports for prospective new clients

  • Working with the admin and compliance team to deliver high quality client outcomes

  • In time, to take on your own portfolio of clients

The Company

Toft Financial Planning is a family run IFA firm that started in 2015. We are proud that the majority of our new clients now come through referrals from existing clients. We are based from prestigious offices in a grade 2* listed building in the centre of Knutsford.

Our continuous financial planning model that we provide to the majority of our clients typically includes four areas of financial advice, those being:

  • Pension accumulation

  • Retirement income strategy

  • A wide range of investments

  • Estate planning and IHT mitigation.

As a result of our success, we are pleased to offer this opportunity for someone to join us as an Associate Financial Planner.

What does the successful candidate look like?

  • You will already be making progress towards your (level 4) Diploma status or have completed it.

  • You will have experience within the Financial Services and working within a Financial Planning Firm. You will likely be an experienced administrator, a paraplanner or trainee in another firm.

  • You will have the ability to explain financial concepts to others in writing and verbally.

  • Confident with numbers with a full attention to detail.

  • Interested in people and able to converse with those from all backgrounds.

  • Comfortable in asking questions to understand client motivation.

  • Experience of writing suitability reports.

  • You will be compassionate, empathetic, and supportive of clients. A key part of the role is building great relationships with our client families which also involves supporting them through challenging life events.


  • The right to work in the UK

  • Competent with Microsoft Office programmes

  • Fluent in both written and spoken English

  • Commenced study towards Diploma Level Financial Planning qualifications


  • Experienced in using Intelligent Office, O&M Pension Profiler and fund research and cashcalc – training is available if not proficient in these but it would be beneficial to have previous experience as they form a key part of the role.

  • Knowledge of the UK tax system would also be beneficial.

Salary & Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a basic salary of £30,000 – £35,000 depending on experience. Working Hours 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday with a mix of office and home-based working.

  • At the companies discretion they will cover the costs of material and examinations to attain the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning with the CII/Personal Financial Society.
